Epson had the perfect response to the previews here at Photokina Canon had for its new M-Series storage viewers (http://dpnow.com/forum2/showthread.php?t=247) in the form of the new and improved P-5000, which will replace the P-4000 from next month.
The unit is slightly larger to accommodate a spectacular new 4 inch VGA (640x480) screen that delivers a unique four colours per pixel instead of the usual three.
The user interface is completely revamped and speeded up and multimedia playback features have been updated, too. Good news for photographers is that a 100% 1:1 pixels view indicator is now featured.
Maybe the only disappointment is that only SD (and SDHC) and CF slots are supported, meaning you will need appropriate adapters (not supplied) for other popular card types, like xD and Memory Stick, etc.
The price will be about the same as the out-going P-4000 at around £350 in the UK.
