Had to drive down to Brighton Saturday , the weather was'nt the best , thought this mono showed the moody sky off better .

Indeed it does t-up I like this a lot B., very simple yet full English seaside-ness. The sky makes it of course, but the treatment you have given the picture concentrates the eye on the pier frontage.

Yep, it's a good one which is also an excellent representation of how the sky and atmosphere has been for a few weeks now.

Not too long ago we were going through Hastings towards Eastbourne around midday. The sky threatening and that typical dark blue behind but glaring and brilliant sunshine ahead. So Hastings pier was brilliantly lit on the west side against a very dark threatening sky to the east.

We tried all ways to find a place to park for a few minutes but to no avail. Meters all taken, height barriers and yellow lines elsewhere and we were also travelling in the wrong direction for a 'travelling snapshot'.

Those piers can look fantastic in changing weather . and it really frustrates me that I still can't walk far enough or stay upright long enough to capture some good shots of them in dramatic weather.

D'ya have any good ones of the Hastings pier?

Thanks Stephen .
Pol my sister lives in St Leonards and i visit a lot , but too be honest i never go into that part , i'd rather stick to far end where the black huts are , or right up the other end towards Bexhill it's wilder .
Since the council closed the pier there's not much to photograph anyway .
The picture of the two boats on my B&W album cover was shot on Hastings beach .

Atmosphere and foreboding all over the place here and it makes for a great shot but to me but the almost square format does not suit. More height maybe, as more of that sky would not hurt things but would be welcome.

That's a cracking shot - know the area well, since my son used to live on Old Steane whilst studying at Brighton uni.

I liked the square format - knowing the area slightly, I think there's a car park and aquarium just over to the left!

Beautiful, moody feel.

Thank you Tom , Caz and Tinka .
The reason for the square crop is because i had a tad too much beach showing .
