Well there I was tonight, had filled in my application form for the Disabled Photographers’' Society, cheque dully filled out and signed and an envelope but no stamp! Then a vague memory sprung to the fore of my brain about seeing something on the Royal Mail site about buying and printing your own stamps online; went had a look and low and behold I was right and now I have a nice printed envelope with the type of Royal Mail markings that you would receive from a business.

Of course for many reasons, there will be those among us who all ready know about this but for those that don’t here is the link:

Print your postage online directly from your PC or Mac (http://www.royalmail.com/portal/rm/jump3?catId=400043&mediaId=26800663)

Yes Brian, I had seen it, but I couldn't see whether there was a minimum. I somehow didn't think the Royal Mail would accept your credit/debit card for say one second class stamp @ 23p.

Perhaps you can confirm that this is so.

There have been many occasions when I needed to send a small package and have known how much it costs (because there is a calculator on the Royal Mail Site), but I haven't quite had the correct denominations of stamps and have always had to put too much money on.

It would save having to go down to the Post Office, where there is no parking for a quarter of a mile.

Thanks for this thread.

Autumn,

There are three ways to pay

First: Pre Pay Account
Second: Credit Card
Third: Debit Card

Using the first, you credit your account with £3.50 or more if you like and pay via credit or debit card; for amounts over £3.50 you can pay directly with your credit, debit card or funds from you pre pay account.

It's good and easy to use; though PO Box Numbers come out with PO Box in a lot of places because of the name and address information you have to enter.

Just remember that when you print out your envelope, to adjust your printer properties to print an envelope and then choose the envelope size or you waste an envelope. (Been there, done that one :o) Once printed you have 24 hours to post your letter, mail, package, parcel etc.
