I've been after a picture of these pigeons for some time - as I walk into Northampton town from where I work, the quickest way is through St Giles' church. Several times recently, I've seen a flock of feral pigeons by the far wall. I did try and get a shot of them a couple of weeks ago, but only had my camera phone with me and it didn't work. A shame, because I was also trying to include a lady who was stalking the pigeons with her SLR!

Went through the churchyard today after the snow had melted, and the pigeons were back - unfortunately, only had my camera phone with me so the images are quite small (but hey, next week, my new K800i will be live - has Ian reviewed that yet?)

I took the pictures on 'burst mode'. I did walk among them to try and get some shots of them flying, but the camera's just not quick enough!

I haven't edited, cropped or fiddled with them in any way - so in the first photo I'm not sure whether it's the shadow of a tree or whether I've committed a cardinal sin by getting the sun behind me and casting a shadow. For the other two, I just quite liked the 'expression' of the pigeon in the front of the last 2 photos.

interesting,
The pigeons expression,
I wonder what the pigeon is for" Look at that human,(being polite) they don't know the difference between a camera and a phone!
Never be without your camera.

Not bad considering they're taken with a camera phone :) Do you own a compact camera or SLR? If so, i'd much like to see pictures like these taken again with those cameras, and maybe from a lower angle?

Hi Matt - I do own a compact (Canon A710), but it's just a little too large to pop in my coat pocket when I walk into town and I'm trying to resist getting a bigger handbag!

I did take my camera with me when I walked into town today - of course, the pigeons had decided to take a day off and were infesting the main street instead - and there were too many people about to get a clear shot.

Ah well, will keep on trying - have attached two I did take with the Canon. The storks were spotted in France, driving past a village on the main road - a quick detour was necessary. The quality isn't great, because it was practically maximum zoom.

And the tit's on the feeder down the bottom of the garden - taken by hanging out of the living room window!
