Can anyone help.
When I select "edit in Photoshop" in in the drop down menu in LT4 It is not taking the LT adjustments with it despite selecting that they should, in fact the option window does not always show it simply opens in CS4. It is however carrying through any crop I may have made. A friend is having this same problem with his LT3. I am Mac, he is Windows 7.
The same thing is happening with Aperture, any ideas.

Are you trying to open it in CS4's Raw converter (ACR)?

If you are then CS4's ACR does not support all the features in LR4. and if I remember correctly it is only the latest beta raw update that will allow raw files to be opened in ACR correctly and then only in CS5 and 6.

If not then are you choosing the option to open it as a copy with LR4's edits applied?

This is one of the many reasons I only work with DNG's in Adobe products.:)

Firstly I convert to DNG as I import into LR, I am not trying to use ARC, it's simply the case of after adjusting things there are occasions when LR won't do and I have to move over to Cs4, but the changes made are not evident in Photoshop. Something must have been changed by accident because it used to work, but what.
As said in the post a friend is having the same trouble I run Mac he runs Windows.

I have just been trying the same exercise on my MacBook, make adjustments in LR then send it to Photoshop for editing and that works correctly and show the changes made in LR. They are both the same versions of the software.
So I went to preferences in both programs to ensure they were the same on both machines. Having done that quitted both programs shut the iMac down and rebooted guess what, just the same still wont carry the adjustments through.
The Adobe support site can't even recognise the problem let alone help.

I have not come across that before Patrick and it seems very strange.

Just to make sure. are you getting this dialogue box when editing, because if you are not it may be set to edit original.

I am just guessing here and if it is not then the only option seems a reinstall of both programs.

But I would try resetting the preferences in CS4 first if it were me as a corrupted preference file can sometimes cause glitches.

Thank you for the reply.

I no lomger get the dialogue box so must have disabled it somewhere in my effeorts to rectify the problem. It was though behaving the same when I used the dialogue box. Can you indicate which box to tick in preferences to bring the box back.

You have not disabled it and it is just inexplicably missing which makes me think a damaged preference file may be at fault for all your problems.

One thing to note is that doing a reinstall will not fix a damaged preference file as it will use the old preference file on reinstalling.

You may wish to try resetting it, and if you do I suggest reading this here, it will save me explaining it all.:)

Thanks Paul for this, I have read it, can't pretend to understand it but will read it again, and possibly a third time and then brace myself and give it a go. If it works my photographer friend who is having the same problem will also be pleased.

Hi Paul

Solved the problem, well mostly, still not getting the dialogue box.

If anyone else is having this problem here is how to solve it.
Open LT in my case LT4 go to preferences in the General Tap and at the bottom click on 'Reselect all warning dialogues' then send an adjusted image from LT to Photoshop and select Edit in Lightroom in the resulting dialogue box. The adjustment now travel with the image, however the choice of whether or not the changes are effective in Photoshop still is not appearing, you just get em.
Interestingly before this fix I was able to adjust a TIFF or PSD in LR and the choice box was there and the adjustments travelled every time. It was only RAW or DNG files that were affected.
