View Full Version : Canon 7d internal flash problem

Wondering if anyone can help me with this, please?

[1] The flash doesn't pop up when I press the button - I've had that problem before with the 550D, when I used to get an error code with it and it was apparently a common problem after using an external flash. That was easily solved by pushing the button and getting a fingernail under the edge of the flash unit.

[2] I go into the Flash control menu to enable flash firing - fine so far

[3] When I try to get into "built in flash function setting" I get the error message "This menu cannot be displayed. External flash is attached".

I'd be very grateful to hear if anyone has any ideas.

Thanks Rod - similar answer to that I got on ephotozine, and it's worked!

Don't use on camera flash often, but needed to prove a quick point to someone last week at a pre-wedding shoot. The bride and groom plan to get married standing just inside a barn door, with the guests outside - my immediate thought was urk, backlit. Luckily I had taken along an external flash so could show her what I meant.

Here's the link that was sent to me on the other forum: http://www.jakereinig.com/b/?p=130
