I had an email last night from Horacio concerned about the absence for several months of pewidane, or Peder Winge, our retired locomotive driver from Denmark. Horacio last heard from Peder several months ago and he had confided that he was not a well person.

So it's my sad duty to inform everyone here that Peder passed away on 19th November. I discovered this news on Facebook, where Peder was a Facebook friend. You might be able to see his Facebook wall and various tributes if you are a Facebook member:

Although I never met Peder in person, he was a prolific contributor of inspirational images to us here on DPNow and also on our other site, Four Thirds User. He specialised in abstract and landscape photography, documenting his home town and surrounding areas. We also shared glimpses of his life going back decades through older photographs.

I know many of us here will miss him and I am just so sorry that this news has come so late. You can see his galleries here:

Read this with a surprise. I recall so many impressive photos he posted here.
I, too, noticed his long absence but never imagined that he passed away so many months ago.
R.I.P. Peder.

Thanks Pol for letting me know. We were on holiday when it was announced but it seems you all got to know 5 months after the event.

How sad and how time goes. I had looked on Pedar's page only to discover it was quite a time since he had looked in but never thought that he wasn't with us any more. He was an inspirational photographer and had his own special method of framing photos which always made them look good (which of course they were).

RIP Pedar - you are missed.
