DP Now Salon Competition No 120 "Still Life''

The challenge this time is "Still Life''. It is a another wide subject, and I don't mind if it is a set piece or just found objects, the more the merrier.

We'll be finishing up Midnight 11 March, 2012.

Put in whatever you like, I do have quirky taste!

The rules, as usual:

1. All photographs are to be uploaded to the photo gallery at http://dpnow.com/galleries/
They can be put in members own gallery if they wish. The resulting link generated for the photo will then be pasted into the next available space in the salon tread. Please keep photos to a maximum of 800 pixel wide so people can see the whole image without scrolling.
2. One entry per user ID only please, which must be the personal work of the entrant.
3. Entries should be "in line" within the thread (not as a links to an image held somewhere else).
4. Comments only on entries are welcome within the salon thread itself.
5. After the close the curator will indicate a winner and a couple of runners up.
6. The curators decision is final.
7. Winners should be offered first refusal to choose the next theme and curate the next salon.
8. If the winner is unable to curate the next salon the current curator may offer that "honour" to any willing volunteer, possibly the entrant in second or third place.
9. These rules are to be copied and pasted with the new theme by the curator at the top of the new salon thread with a finish date and time.
10. As with all photos posted on DPNow, copyright remains with the photographer an DPNow will not use them without permission.

You have the rest of today to get an entry in. DON'T DELAY.

A very disappointing entry. I guess I just can't find the subjects to inspire *sob. I have seen some great still life shots in the galleries and critiques, I hoped to see a few more of them here.

Grumble over. How about the entries I did get. Actually, they are all rather good in their very different ways. Well worth a look for their distinctive approaches to the subject. Rules are there to be broken when the effect is this good.

I have no hesitation, however, to awarding the first place to Autumn for her Raspberry! Great colour, perfect lighting and the composition works extremely well, despite the central raspberry being the main focus of the viewer's attention.

*clap Very strong entries from the rest and I can't bring myself to choose a second, third, etc. Consider yourselves all second equal!! *clap

Over to you Autumn (aka Audrey).

For those interested in still life and the relationship of photography and painting there is an interesting exhibition in Bath.

Blimey! I know my choice of subject was not popular but I hope I haven't killed the Salon.

*whack I'm sure you haven't.

About 2-3 weeks ago Audrey (Autumn) mentioned she was going away on holiday so that'll be what's happened. She'll probably be back soon.

Well, she's back now.:)

Can't believe I won. Thanks Kurt. These raspberries were taken with my little Panny (that got run over:eek:). They were on a market stall in Bergen. Just return ed from a 25 day cruise. Too many sea days, but we did get to see Rio and had 3 days in the Amazon, which was amazing. Will try to sort some pics out soon.

I must give some thought to the new salon, hopefully tomorrow.

Thanks again.
