I looked through all previous themes and did not see Rain among them.
So, I would like to see pictures of rain with some emotions either present in the photos or induced by them. There can be people singing, walking, running or doing anything else in the rain, OR there can be NO people at all but I would like to feel what you felt looking through the lens of your camera at the rain at that moment.

This fortnight will expire at midnight GMT on Friday 16th of December and on 17th I will need to chose a winner.

Good luck

The rules, as usual:

1. All photographs are to be uploaded to the photo gallery at http://dpnow.com/galleries/
They can be put in members own gallery if they wish. The resulting link generated for the photo will then be pasted into the next available space in the salon tread. Please keep photos to a maximum of 800 pixel wide so people can see the whole image without scrolling.
2. One entry per user ID only please, which must be the personal work of the entrant.
3. Entries should be "in line" within the thread (not as a links to an image held somewhere else).
4. Comments only on entries are welcome within the salon thread itself.
5. After the close the curator will indicate a winner and a couple of runners up.
6. The curators decision is final.
7. Winners should be offered first refusal to choose the next theme and curate the next salon.
8. If the winner is unable to curate the next salon the current curator may offer that "honour" to any willing volunteer, possibly the entrant in second or third place.
9. These rules are to be copied and pasted with the new theme by the curator at the top of the new salon thread with a finish date and time.
10. As with all photos posted on DPnow, copyright remains with the photographer an DPnow will not use them without permission.
11. Please don't be shy and put yourself to work. It is all about having FUN.

The wife and I did a cruise on the Rhine a year ago. One of the memorable stops was at Heidelberg Castle. After the tour we descended in a bus in the rain. I caught this shot of the bus driver's reflection in the mirror.

Hi everybody!

Today is time for me to pick a winner of this salon.
It was a difficult task not only because each presented picture is interesting in its own way but also because two pictures that I liked very much and would like to pick as winners I couldn't, to be just. As I could not decide what to do I asked my 11y.o. son for his opinion and he concluded that no matter how good, they were taken AFTER the rain, so do not completely fit the subject. These two are:

Geoff's breathtaking panorama from Derbyshire
http://dpnow.com/galleries/data/500/Rain-salon-entry.jpg

and Horacio's non-standard way of looking at ordinary things :)
http://dpnow.com/galleries/data/578/medium/Rainy-Street-II.jpg

And now to the pictures where its raining.

Third place I would like to divide between Kurt's stormy "Beside the seaside" and Yoshi's peaceful and cheerful pond with waterlilies.

Second place goes to Barr1e's Salcombe estuary. I could not help feeling that I've seen an old painting exactly like this somewhere :).

And the winner is Autumn's "Wet Day in London"! Very cheerful, colourful and busy picture, despite the weather :)

Well done, everybody. And thank you!

Thanks Svetlana for running the challenge.

I'm most pleased with my placing, especially as I was having difficulty finding an image in the computer to suit the theme. I possibly had many in the old machine which hasn't been used since I installed this new one some months ago.

Very well done to the runners up.

Congratulations Audrey on your 1st place. I can see why this was the winning entry.

Congrats to all, especially Audrey. I saw her picture when I was about to upload a grey dismal horrible day in Escravos with rain running off the roofs and just decided then that she was winning so never bothered. A really lovely picture.

Congratulations to everyone for some interesting images. And thanks very much for the unexpected placing, I am not sure that I deserved it among such strong competition.

A good number of entries, and it must have been a hard choice. Congratulations to all who placed, and in particular to Audrey for a cracker of a shot. (And like Ian, I wondered if you'd enter that...)
