Surprised but very pleased and I have commented on the camera which produced the winner in another post. Thanks to Ducky for picking mine out.
I would like this challenge to show a mood - 'The Waiting' - Anything goes, pets, commuters, just get the feeling across.
This salon will run for two weeks and close at midnight - Monday 29th November
The rules are as follows:
1. All photographs are to be uploaded to the photo gallery at http://dpnow.com/galleries/
They can be put in members own gallery if they wish. The resulting link generated for the foto/photo will then be pasted into the next available space in the salon tread. Please keep photos to a maximum of 800 pixel wide so people can see the whole image without scrolling.
2. One entry per user ID only please, which must be the personal work of the entrant.
3. Entries should be "in line" within the thread (not as links to an image held somewhere else)
4. Comments only on entries are welcome within the salon thread itself.
5. After the close the curator will indicate a winner and a couple of runners up.
6. The curators decision is final.
7. Winners should be offered first refusal to choose the next theme and curate the next salon.
8. If the winner is unable to curate the next salon the current curator may offer that "honour" to any willing volunteer, possibly the entrant in second or third place.
9. These rules are to be copied and pasted with the new theme by the curator at the top of the new salon thread with a finish date and time.
10. As with all photos posted on DPNow, copyright remains with the photographer and DPNow will not use them without permission.

Here's what comes to mind when I heard your contest topic - one of my cats (Cassie - I own two!) anxiously anticipating that treat!

These two were waiting around the side of the supemarket for her fella to come and collect them. He seemed to be rather late and they were none too pleased - especially the one wearing the red scarf :D

I can't figure out how to get my photo into this competition. I've sized it properly and uploaded it to... somewhere on the DPNow site, but can't find it anywhere I've looked. Beyond that,I have no idea how to actually get the photo into the competition. Help!
This might help:

You need to upload the photo in your gallery space first, and then past the image code into your post in the salon contest thread here. Let us know if you are still stuck :)

Below is the code for my entry, "Navajo Man, Monument Valley, Utah." It looks as if he is awaiting spiritual connection of some sort with that magnificent landscape. The reality, however, is more mundane: he was selling jewelry along the stone wall of the parking lot, and when he saw me getting out of the car with a camera, he turned around, simply waiting for me and my camera

I must be some kind of idiot, because I followed Ian's instructions - I created an album and uploaded my photo to it, then pasted the image code into the message I sent from the competition thread. Everyone else who has posted to this thread has their image within their post, but all I have is the code, which is:
(Code deleted)
Ed: OK, the code you used was just the URL for the page in the gallery. What you needed was a BBCode URL for the photo image itself, and here it is:

Hi all you entrants - the results
A well supported challenge and a lot of excellent pictures.
Waiting can be a boring everyday thing or a time of tension or worry, and I had hoped that by titling the challenge 'The Waiting' and not just 'Waiting' some of the pics would reflect this added element. Not easy, and maybe I wasn't explicit enough, but anyway, here goes.
Third: Horacio's 'Waiting for the bus'. Without the title you would wonder why the picture was taken and look harder.
Second: Kurt's entry. What is he doing? What is he waiting for? Who didn't take a second look at this?
First: Andrew Thatcher's ' Waiting For Small Change'. Even with the explanatory title, you have to study this photo . There is a visible tension here from the descending lines leading the eyes to the subject, and the movement of the passers by. A very well caught moment Andrew, and well composed.
Congratulations,
Roger
Congratulations all, and especially Andrew for being the chosen one :)
I'm looking forward to what Andrew will choose as the topic for the next salon!
Ian
Thanks for the mention, Roger, and particular thanks for a fine Salon. Congratulations on your win Andrew, a superb image.
