It is with great regret that I have to announce the sale of my beloved 24-70 lens ;) I've now bought a 5DMk2 as a second camera body and when I saw a 24-105 f/4L IS, (which is more appropriate for the 5D) going for a good price I snapped it up. So the 24-70 has to be sold to pay for the new lens.
The 24-70 is in some respects a better lens, it is heavier, due to there being more glass in it and it has the fantastic f/2.8 widest aperture. The results from the lens are tack sharp and when using the wide aperture the bokeh is sublime. If you Google the lens there are loads of reviews on the lens and they all really rate it as a superb lens.
I'd say the lens is in very good condition. In all honesty I can't say its mint as there are a couple of tiny pin pricks on the lens barrel, you can see them on the photo below. Also the lens hood has surface scuffs on it commensurate with a piece of plastic that has been used to protect the lens and absorb all the bumps that these things get in normal use. The glass though is free of marks and dust and I'd say in perfect condition. Both original lens caps are in place. The lens also comes with the original Canon soft draw string pouch and instruction booklet. Unfortunately I have mislaid the original box, perhaps in a moment of madness I decided I would never sell the lens so threw it away, I'm not sure. Anyway, rest assured the lens with be extremely well packed and dispatched by Special Delivery.
These lenses sell new for around £1000, the SRP is £1500. I've put the lens on Ebay starting on Thursday 26th and am hoping to get in excess of £650. If anyone here wants to make me an offer in that region feel free to PM me.
