I have a Ricoh GXR on loan at the moment - this is the camera that has interchangeable 'camera' modules - a lens and sensor in a unit that can be interchanged and fitted to the grip, viewfinder and LCD module.

Here's a shot from the 33mm macro module, which has an APS-C sensor (sorry about the big watermark - I forgot to switch this off!):

The above is from the DNG RAW file out of the camera and resized in Lightroom 3 but with no other adjustments.

This is my adjusted version. Basically I've brought the shadows up a bit and reigned in the highlights, while there was a small amount of fringing that needed correcting in Lightroom 3.

The lens is certainly very sharp across the frame. But now have a look at this:

This is a 1:1 crop. I can see some obvious saw-tooth aliasing to the wihe edge detail in the window.

Not sure I'd be happy with that.

I had a Sony Cuber-shot NEX 3 with me at the same time as I took the Ricoh GXR samples:

The NEX samples are from JPEG camera files as the Lightroom 3 doesn't yet support NEX RAW files. Notice the big difference in colour; there is much less red in the NEX results. And there isn't any saw-tooth aliasing of the window details. Then again, the NEX kit zoom lens is much softer than the GXR's prime.
