Hi Ian, after reading your comments on another thread, I thought it might be better to add more about the Japanese site I said earlier where one poster gave a link to your sample photos.
This is a site I do not usually go but found it by chance in a sense while looking for samples for L1.

He says;

Hi Bob, yes the traffic stats are buzzing - up 4x on a normal Monday yesterday, I have a feeling the FZ50 article will generate more hits than the L1 article.

Hi Ian,
I see from another forum that the manual for the L-1 is available for download at http://www.panasonic.co.uk/... .../download-centre.asp?did=145259&fmt=pdf so you can read up before you get your test sample I haven't looke to see if they have the FZ-50 or LX-2 manuals.
