Edge ND, CPL and UV screw-in filters – are officially announced!
Baar, Switzerland, July 5th,2017
TH Swiss company informs about the official launch of Irix Edge series of screw-in filters, which consists of UV & Protector, Circular Polarizer and ND filters with various densities. These filters are designed especially for Irix lenses, but not only! The aesthetic design of Edge filters harmonizes with all Irix products. Since now it is possible to fully enjoy Irix 15mm f/2.4 functionality and its unique features. TH Swiss is starting to send the first deliveries of these new products to Irix dealers.
Perfect protection and high light transmission in Irix Edge UV & Protector filter
This ultra-slim UV filter offers extraordinary light transmission thanks to the high quality optical glass and multi-layer antireflective coating. It’s additional waterproof NANO coating helps keeping the glass surface free of stains and water droplets. Irix UV filter also provides decent protection of the front lens under extreme circumstances. Irix UV filter has been designed especially for Irix 15mm f/2.4 lens. It’s low-profile frame and knurled edges provide very good grip. The additional waterproof coating helps keeping the glass surface free of water droplets under rainy weather.
Reducing the reflections with Irix Edge Circular Polarizer filter
Irix Edge Circular Polarizer (CPL) filter reduces reflections from non-metallic surfaces, emphasizes details and increases colour density of the pictures. Thanks to the slim and ultralight aluminium frame with knurled edges, filter is easy to operate through filter window and causes no vignetting on Irix 15mm f/2.4. The glass surfaces of Irix polarizer are covered by multi-coated antireflection layer that keeps the image clear and full of natural colors.
Diversion of long exposure photography thanks to Irix Edge Neutral Density filters
Irix Edge Neutral Density filters (ND) are an essential tool for long exposure photography and depth of field’s manipulation. They reduce the light that is passing through the lens by 3-stops (3EV), 5-stops (5EV), 7-stops (7EV) or 10-stops (10EV) and help creating astonishing and surreal images. Their additional waterproof and oil repellent NANO coating prevents from stains, fingerprints and enable using in extreme weather conditions.
The country’s largest electricity distributor, is the first in the industry to launch an online map showing where over 100 miles of overhead cables have been undergrounded.
The interactive project demonstrates the electricity company’s achievements in restoring many historic views across the countryside, showing where power lines have been undergrounded in Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty and National Parks.
The project map also encourages people to suggest which others power lines could be considered in the East and South East of England, where UK Power Networks delivers power (it also keeps the lights on in London where most electricity cables are underground).
Viewers can log on to learn about completed projects totaling 170km (under orange ‘pins’) and planned projects (blue ‘pins’). The map is constantly updated as projects are planned, started and finished.
The map was the result of UK Power Networks’ working in collaboration with Yes&Pepper, a London-based ideas agency. The tool was built based on client-supplied information and continuous tests, with weekly calls and regular reviews in place for further development. The team managed to turn it around in ten weeks.
The inspiration for the project map came from the success of UK Power Networks’ existing power cut map, which enables people to see the progress to restore supplies after any power cuts throughout London, the South and South East of England. Since last summer, relevant customer tweets have been to the map in real time, and other power companies have started to follow its lead.
Jenny Carter from the digital team at UK Power Networks oversaw the map design. She said: “Ofgem encourages us to carry out undergrounding works in AONBs by providing special funding, but we wanted to take this one step further and share the positive impact this initiative has on the UK’s protected countryside, and engage further with local communities.
“We provide the expertise and manpower to underground these lines, allowing local residents and tourists to fully appreciate the surroundings. Such work also increases the reliability of power supplies in the area and this map celebrates all that hard work. We’re looking forward to hearing what people think of it, and will continue to update and improve the online map in future.”
Ross Peet, managing partner at Yes&Pepper, said: “When dealing with large data, it’s vital for the information to be reported in a visual manner, to allow easy access and offer an overall understanding in a matter of seconds. We’ve been working hand in hand with our client to build this innovative, user-centric project, always fine-tuning it for an optimal experience online. It’s been a real technical challenge for Yes&Pepper to pull everything together so quickly and accurately during testing, but the end result is incredibly efficient.”

Notes to editors:
UK Power Networks is the country’s biggest electricity distributor, making sure the lights stay on for more than eight million homes and businesses across London, the South East and the East of England.
Network operators aren’t the same as energy suppliers; network operators manage local power lines and substations, while energy suppliers sell the electricity that runs through the power lines.
UK Power Networks is the first electricity distributor to be named in the Sunday Times’ Top 30 Best Companies to Work For, and made industry history by becoming first company to win Utility of the Year two years running (2015 and 2016, also 2012).
The company invests more than £500 million in its electricity networks every year, offers extra help to vulnerable customers at times of need, and is undertaking trials to ensure that electricity networks support the transition to a low carbon future. It also moves cables and connects new electricity supplies. If you have a power cut ring 105, see www.ukpowernetworks.co.uk or tweet us @UKPNnews
3 Legged Thing is proud to introduce …
The QR11-LC & QR11-LG
British Tripod brand, 3 Legged Thing has launched its latest Universal L Bracket. The QR11-LC and QR11-LG are the result of six months of research and development, offering universal compatibility, accessory attachment and flat storage.
What’s the story?
The QR11 comes with triangular pads, designed to tessellate and provide as much surface contact as possible on the baseplate, which translates to more grip and a more secure connection. The base itself is the optimal length for most cameras, enabling more compatibility and better access to cable sockets. It features a quarter-inch threaded hole on the upright, for attaching other accessories, and a strap connector on both aspects.
“I really wanted to produce something cross-compatible with as many cameras as I could. I wanted to make something that is more than just an L-Bracket. Our Mission at 3 Legged Thing has always been to add as much value in innovation as we can to our products, and the QR11 is no exception,” said 3 Legged Thing’s Founder and Chief Executive, Danny Lenihan (pictured).
“I also wanted to produce something that was affordable,”said Lenihan. “So many L Brackets are upwards of $150 to $250, which is a lot of money for a student or any photographer, really. It’s important that we are as inclusive as we can be, so that photography enthusiasts on smaller budgets, can still have the opportunity to use an L Bracket. At $49.99, I think we’ve achieved that.”

The QR11 also has another neat trick – it can be disassembled in seconds, using the included multi-tool (3LT-TOOLZ) and stored flat, making it easier to transport and stow. It also comes in two colour options: Equinox Copper and Eclipse Grey, to suit your style.

Canon reveals the highly anticipated EOS 6D Mark II – Realise your creative vision with the latest generation full frame DSLR camera
United Kingdom, Republic of Ireland, 29 June 2017 – Canon has today unveiled the highly anticipated EOS 6D Mark II, the latest addition to Canon’s full frame DSLR line up, designed for both passionate hobbyist and professional photographers.
Successor to Canon’s EOS 6D, the EOS 6D Mark II features Canon’s latest generation technologies and is designed for a range of specialist photography categories, from travel to portraits. It offers huge advancements to users allowing greater shooting possibilities, additional control and flexibility to achieve their photography vision.
The EOS 6D Mark II has been developed following feedback from users, and as such, will enable photographers to go beyond their limits as they take their creations further. With its new full frame 26.2 Megapixel CMOS sensor, DIGIC 7 processor, 45 point AF system and Dual Pixel CMOS AF technology, the EOS 6D Mark II delivers the highest quality images fulfilling the needs of both professionals and hobbyists alike.
Push the boundaries with the latest generation technology
With a new 26.2 Megapixel CMOS sensor, the EOS 6D Mark II offers unrivalled image quality and improved performance.
Its high dynamic range ensures exceptional exposure latitude so users can push boundaries when shooting in bright light conditions.
The improved ISO 40,000, expanding to ISO 102,400, allows flexibility so documentary photographers can snap scenes with the confidence that details will be retained even in the darkest nights.
The latest DIGIC 7 processor creates high quality files straight from the camera.
With the EOS 6D Mark II users can achieve greater control over their creative vision thanks to the 45 point AF system, which can be customised and allows more precise tracking.
Alongside DIGIC 7’s image processing advancements, the EOS 6D Mark II can predict the movement of a subject across the frame and respond rapidly. When combined with the 6.5 fps, the EOS 6D Mark II opens a whole new range of possibilities.
The EOS 6D Mark II’s new AF system retains the ability to accurately lock onto subjects even in the lowest lighting, perfect for portraits in diminishing ambient lights.
Canon’s renowned Dual Pixel CMOS AF technology allows for high performance tracking as well as smoother focusing, and shorter focusing times, for movies. These features are a great advantage for shooting macro and product photography aided by the Live View screen.
The EOS 6D Mark II is the first full frame EOS camera to include built-in 5-axis movie stabilisation that counteracts shake when footage is captured hand-held and on-the-move.
The vari-angle LCD touch-screen allows users to switch focus at the tap of the screen and reach tricky angles when shooting unusual perspectives or in a crowd.
Offering even smarter connectivity, the EOS 6D Mark II boasts Wi-Fi and Bluetooth[i] for an always on connection. Giving users even more flexibility when transmitting images to smart devices, users can easily share their work to speed up their workflow. Its capabilities allow photographers to control their camera from their smartphone to shoot images or video remotely; advantageous for users cautious of distracting their subject with movement, such as a resting butterfly. The built-in GPS keeps track of location, allowing you to automatically chronicle the destinations in which you create your stories.
The EOS 6D Mark II is a compact and lightweight full frame DSLR camera. It is resistant to dust and moisture, making it ideal for on-the-go shooting whilst offering top performance to complement users’ needs.
The EOS 6D Mark II is the first camera from Canon to have both 4K time-lapse movie mode and intervalometer for more diverse movie making. Getting creative is made even easier and capturing footage in up to 4K resolution is ideal for shooting star-scapes in brilliant detail. The built-in intervalometer gives users maximum possibilities when editing their time-lapse movies.
BATTERY GRIP BG-E21
BG-E21 is a bespoke battery grip for EOS 6D Mark II which can hold two battery packs simultaneously, and is compatible with both LP-E6N and LP-E6 battery packs. By improving the camera’s battery life BG-E21 doubles the number of possible shots. BG-E21 replicates the buttons of the top right body of EOS 6D Mark II. This means that the camera can be used in exactly the same way when shooting vertically, ensuring the ergonomics is not hindered. Users will also help to provide better handling and balance when shooting with heavier lenses.

Billingham’s weather-resistant FibreNyte canvas delivers exceptional durability, colour fastness and protection from external elements. Extremely tough, yet light in weight, it never requires reproofing, retaining its water and heat-resistant properties throughout the life of the bag.
Delivering maximum protection for heavier lenses and the all-metal bodies often featured in current CSC and DSLR products, the rear, side and bottom faces of the bag have been strengthened with foam padding. This also adds structure and support, making sure the Hadley One retains its shape whether completely full or just carrying a small number of items – and safeguards any equipment carried in the outside pockets.
For additional customisation and storage capacity, external pockets can be fitted to the Hadley One, fastened to the thick leather layer to provide a secure mount for valuable accessories. The shoulder sling attachment has been riveted through the leather to form a core structure of the bag.
In response to numerous requests from Billingham owners, a durable luggage trolley strap, enabling the user to retain the bag over the handle of a trolley suitcase, has been integrated into the Hadley One. This practical feature allows the photographer to access the rear zipped pocket when mounted, while a weather-proof zip closure keeps all contents dry in inclement conditions.
The Hadley One is available in three FibreNyte and leather colour combinations: Sage & Chocolate, Khaki & Chocolate and All-Black.
Harry Billingham, director, commented, “We have been listening to feedback from our customers for more than four decades, and we continuously look for improvements in our products and processes to exceed the expectations of photographers. While fulfilling the essential requirements of protection and strength, we also manufacture to exact technical specifications and quality standards, giving owners the peace of mind that they can trust and rely on our bags to perform throughout their lifetime. With the Hadley One, we’ve responded to the suggestions of photographers from across the world, incorporating features that will make their daily working lives easier, particularly those travelling frequently from location to location.”
Billingham’s meticulous sourcing procedures ensure that all textiles and materials meet stringent criteria, guaranteeing that every bag is built from tested, innovative and durable components. As with all Billingham bags, the Hadley One is subject to extensive inspections and quality checks before being made available to purchase. Once complete, the bag receives its own laser-engraved label and individual serial number, allowing the owner to register the product, and enabling it to be identified and tracked throughout its lifecycle. The Hadley One comes with a five year guarantee.
An extensive range of matching accessories is available for all Billingham bags, including top-grain leather shoulder pads for added comfort when travelling and leather luggage tallies in various colour options.

WESTERN DIGITAL Launches new my passport™ ultra DRIVE to help consumers easily back up their digital lives
SAN JOSE, Calif., June 27, 2017 – Western Digital Corporation, (NASDAQ: WDC), a global data storage technology and solutions leader, today expanded its iconic line of WD® brand My Passport portable drives with the redesigned My Passport Ultra drive. In addition to a new metallic look, the drive offers intuitive WD Discovery™ software to help consumers easily back up photos, videos and important documents shared and created across multiple social networks, cloud services and devices. The My Passport Ultra drive is the ideal storage solution for consumers who want to consolidate and preserve all aspects of their digital lives.
Today’s consumers have multiple social media accounts, and according to Parks Associates research1, use an average of three public cloud services per household like Dropbox, Google Drive™ or Microsoft OneDrive, all of which increases their digital footprint. With so many ways to create, share and store content, there is a growing need for solutions that enable consumers to consolidate all of this crucial data. The My Passport Ultra drive with WD Discovery software makes it easier than ever to back up content from popular social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram*. With a few simple steps, users can download all of their content, including tagged photos and videos from Facebook, onto the drive. WD Discovery software is also an excellent way for users to keep a local copy of files they’ve stored on their favorite public cloud services.
“As the connected consumer has become more mobile, content is now scattered across multiple devices, cloud services and social media,” said Glenn Hower, Senior Analyst, Parks Associates. “The fundamental problem for consumers is that they may not remember what content is stored on what account. Device makers and service providers are positioned to provide a better way to integrate and improve the connected consumer experience.”
To ensure peace of mind that valuable digital memories and files are backed up quickly and easily, the My Passport Ultra drive also comes with easy-to-set WD Backup™ software, allowing users to schedule automatic backups directly from a computer to the drive. In addition, the My Passport Ultra drive features 256-bit AES Hardware Encryption with WD Security™ software built in to help keep private content secure. With a personalized password, users can activate hardware encryption and data protection.
“With so many amazing platforms at our fingertips to create and share photos, videos and important files, it’s critical that we enable consumers to bring together all of their precious content,” said Sven Rathjen, vice president of marketing, Client Solutions, Western Digital. “We’re focused on delivering brilliant storage solutions that combine the quality, performance and reliability consumers have come to expect from the WD brand, and now we’ve reimagined our portable storage portfolio with intuitive software, high capacity and a beautiful design that perfectly suits today’s digital lifestyle.”
The My Passport Ultra drive’s stylish design is an extension of the new My Passport industrial design that was launched in October 2016 and formed from its partnership with award-winning industrial design and branding firm, fuseproject and its lead designer Yves Behar. Designed with metallic and matte finishes, the My Passport Ultra drive is available in two color combinations, either black-gray or white-gold. The drive comfortably fits in the palm of a hand, pocket or purse, so people can confidently back up all of their favorite content wherever life takes them.
