October's DPNow prize is an Olympus Stylus XZ-2
by Ian Burley

Use the DPNow forum and galleries and you could win an Olympus Stylus XZ-2 this month

The Olympus Stylus XZ-2 is a highly sophisticated premium compact digital camera

During October we are running a different kind of monthly big prize competition here on We have a fantastic Olympus Stylus XZ-2 premium compact camera up for grabs and to have a chance of being drawn to win this great prize you simply need to be an active member of the DPNow Discussion Forum and user photo galleries. What does that mean we’ll explain further down this page.

But first some details concerning the prize. The XZ-2 is Olympus’ second-generation premium compact camera. It is only the second Olympus compact camera to earn the Olympus optical quality label ‘Zuiko Digital’, the first being the original XZ-1 launched two years ago. The XZ-2 builds on the success of the XZ-1 by retaining the same 28-112mm equivalent fast f/1.8-2.5 zoom lens, upgrading the sensor to a new 12MP BSI CMOS device, adding capacitive touch screen capability and the touch screen tilts up or down for convenient handling. You can also fit an optional high resolution electronic viewfinder and other Olympus hot-show mount accessories designed for the Pen range of compact system cameras that feature an Olympus Accessory Port. Another great feature of the XZ-2 is a control ring around the lens that can operate as a click-stopped mode setting controller or, with the flick of a switch, it can be turned into a step-less focus control ring. The XZ-2 is a very desirable little camera. Read on to find out how you can have a chance of winning one!

How to ensure you go into this month's prize draw

First of all you will need to be a registered member of the DPNow Discussion Forum. If you aren't already, please ensure you are registered as a member of the forum. Please not that this site uses cookies. We don't pass on any personal information to ANYONE without your absolute specific permission, and this is only in extremely rare cases. By registering as a DPNow forum member you are also allocated space on the DPNow members' photo gallery.

Next, for the prize draw we will select forum members who are involved and active on the forum. This means we will include members who have posted at least 10 messages on the forum during October, PLUS uploaded at least five images to the DPNow gallery during the same period. If you are simply in it for the prize and post messages and images that are clearly not in the spirit of the forum and the gallery you will be warned and ultimately you could be excluded.

This shouldn't be a major chore as the DPNow forum is a friendly place to hang out. You can enjoy lots of members' photos and the discussions around them. You can seek advice and of course give your own. We welcome photographers of all abilities and ages! By being a member of the forum you are eligible to be picked for a Picture of the Day and there are other contests and challenges to have fun with, like the forum Salon. You can even start your own blog. I hope that many of you will discover what a great resource the DPNow forum and galleries can be and that you become regular participants.
