DTD is David Dunnico and we have come to know his distinctive style of photography over the years. He is probably best known for images that verge on the abstract. A recent exhibition of his work focused on CCTV security cameras that you can find all over the place. But our pick for the first Picture of the Day this week is a somewhat timeless scene - it could have been any time in the last 30-40 years - of a couple admiring the sea view while a classic white sailing boat drifts past in the distance. There is something about the pose of the two people, the gentle curve of the railings across the foreground, the distant boat that looks almost toy-like, plus the black and white production. All these things add up to an impressive image.
