London (May, 2003) – LaCie, a leading producer of storage and display devices for the content development industry, announced that it will ship internal LaCie DVD-RW Recorders. The fastest combination drive on the market, the LaCie DVD-RW Recorder offers 4x2x12x DVD-RW speeds and 16x8x32x CD-RW speeds, and burns DVD-R discs at a speed that is twice as fast as the previous generation. Designed to enable simple upgrading of PCs to all-inclusive DVD recording stations, the LaCie DVD Recorder features broad read compatibility and the ability to capture, author and edit DVD video.

LaCie DVD-RW Recorders ship with a comprehensive software suite for Windows operating systems for DVD recording, authoring, editing and playback. With it, users will have the means to perform a multitude of tasks in a few simple steps, including burning video, audio or photo CDs; downloading DVD video from a camcorder; editing clips and adding features like menus, buttons and titles; and authoring professional-quality DVDs — all from a personal PC workstation. Included software also allows for DVD discs to be played back on a variety of DVD players for simple sharing of video creations.

The LaCie DVD-RW Recorder features advanced buffer under run protection, which minimizes failed burns by automatically adapting to system throughput speeds, ensuring smooth, error-free recording.

The LaCie internal DVD-RW is shipping now through LaCie’s accredited resellers and mail order partners, at street price of £159 before VAT. The price includes all cables, manuals, the software suite, a 4.7GB DVD-R disc and 2-year warranty.
