We had a break during June, but the Olympus Greek Gods photo competition is back and we are into the home run, with just three more ancient and mythical deities left to be featured each month up to and including September. For this month, July, the featured Olympian is Ares, the god of war.
Ares, the son of Zeus and Hera, is a slightly contradictory character because although he was practically obsessed with doing battle, his other obsession was women - and making love to them! Although Ares pursued many loves, one goddess in particular interested him, none other than Aphrodite. This wasn’t particularly sensible as she was married to Hephaestus at the time. If it’s of any help, Ares is also associated with the vulture and dogs.
There are plenty of themes to base your entry - war, love, beautiful women - even vultures and dogs!
The prizes!
Remember, nine dpnow readers have already won £500 worth of Olympus gear up to now and there are only three more opportunities to join them and also have a crack at the big £2,000 Greek holiday grand prize for the champion of champions entry that will be judged after the September entry closes.
It's easy to enter!
Just follow these 3 simple steps:
1. Find the location of your nearest Olympus Photo Imaging Expert (PIX) dealer. This is easy - just click
here to get to the PIX site which has a national dealer guide.
2. Choose or create a picture to submit. The competition is very loosely themed on ancient Greek Gods. See above for this month's themes.
3. Send us your entry! You can do this via
olympus.competition@dpnow.com
Your picture can be either a JPEG or TIFF image up to 1MB in file size. If you aren't sure how to format your picture for email, contact us via the same address for some advice.
Don't forget to include the name of your nearest PIX dealer, plus a simple sentence about how your picture relates to the Greek God you have based your picture's theme on.
And that's it!
Once again, if you win one of the £500 monthly competitions being run until September 2004, your entry will go head to head with the other 11 monthly winners to compete for the grand prize of that £2,000 holiday in Greece.
