The UK's Office for National Statistics(ONS) this morning reported the latest monthly UK inflation figures for October 2011. Inflation (CPI index) is up from 4.5% to 5.2% compared with last month. But not all prices are on the up. The ONS highlighted digital cameras where prices dropped by almost 10% in the same period, suggesting that retailers are being forced to slash prices in order to stimulate sales. Consumer electronics products in general, like TVs and computers, have been seeing strong negative inflation in the face of overall economic inflation that has consistently exceeded government targets.
