A busy first day at Focus on Imaging 2011

Although the UK's largest annual photo products expo was dealt a major blow just weeks before when Canon announced it was pulling out, as they say the show goes on the controversial news doesn't seem to have dented visitor enthusiasm. The statistics will eventually tell if the rest of the show is just as unaffected and it will be interesting to see how 2011's numbers shape up against last year's record 37,000+ attendees.

This year we have put together an 11 minute tour of the show on video. Look out for the return of Pentax, including the 645D medium format camera, some interesting lenses from Samyang, and the European debut of a new high speed video and stills camera from JVC:

 

Finally, we're always on the look out for a real show personality at events like this and Bob Schmidt, one of the founders of Hoodman, makers of a wide range of camera accessories, came up trumps with a demo of the latest Hoodman product - a special spectacle frame designed purely with photographers in mind:
