Last chance to enter your photographs for the WWT Nikon competition
Deadline for entries Monday 7 September
The Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust is calling all budding photographers to get snapping at their local WWT Wetland Centre before the end of August for the chance to win Nikon equipment worth over £,1000 in the WWT Nikon Photography competition 2009.
During the summer holidays there’s always plenty to see and photograph. This year’s young are fast growing up and the nature reserves are full of wildflowers and insects. And it’s not only the wildlife that makes a good photo – try to capture a moment with one of WWT’s staff or visitors and you could get the picture that stands out from the crowd.
There are some fantastic prizes to be won, including the superb Nikon D90 digital SLR camera complete with lens, or a COOLPIX P90 camera and a Fieldscope ED 82mm, as well as the lightweight and compact Travelite EX binoculars for the regional winners.
The competition aims to capture the variety of WWT’s nine centres across three categories: ‘WWT Nikon Photo of the Year’, ‘WWT Nikon Junior Photo of the Year’ and ‘WWT Nikon Digiscoping Photo of the Year’. The judging panel, chaired by wildlife photographer Chris Packham, are looking for variety, innovation and imagination, as well as technical accomplishment. For example, your image might capture a special moment, depict specific behaviour or tell an imaginative story.
The main rule of the competition is that all photos submitted must have been taken at one of the nine WWT centres in the UK. WWT is hoping that the competition will encourage people to visit a WWT centre and even help support the charity by joining as a member. Membership allows visits to the nine WWT centres for free.
Closing date for entries is Monday 7 September 2009.
