Swains creates ‘Retail Photo Solutions Ltd’ to sell HP retail photo solutions to UK market

LONDON 19 August 2008 – Swains International Plc, Europe’s leading photo and telecoms distributor, today announced the launch of a new company – Retail Photo Solutions Ltd. The new enterprise will sell HP digital retail photo solutions to the UK market. Graham Jackson, previously Sales Director at AgfaPhoto and more recently a Director of A&O Imaging Services, has been announced as the company’s Director.

Retail Photo Solutions Ltd offers a variety of HP digital photo printing products to retailers looking to set up their own in-store digital photo processing service or replace existing equipment. The digital HP solutions help retailers offer fast photo processing and top-end photo products including calendars, posters, photo books and greetings cards, to customers in-store.

Said Graham Jackson, director of Retail Photo Solutions: “Retail on-site digital solutions are the next big thing in imaging and today’s technology is bringing down the barriers to entry. Not since the introduction of the first digital mini lab has there been a product that will excite retailers like the HP digital range and we’re anticipating a lot of enthusiasm. HP’s solutions are easy to use, take up little space, are energy efficient and contain no hazardous chemicals. Retailers who previously considered photo processing too difficult should look at this offering.”

The HP Retail Photo Solutions available consist of high-speed or small footprint inkjet printers able to produce high quality, ink-based prints in standard and large sizes. Using the solutions, retailers will also be able to offer a unique "while you wait" service selling high-margin creative products such as HP Photo Books, calendars and greetings cards.

The new company exclusively stocks HP products to ensure customers receive the best solution available. Said Jackson: “HP has developed these products to work together as a system, and retailers will see the benefit in terms of improved workflows that cut down production turnaround time. The quality from these printers is exceptional, with true photo quality and excellent fade resistance. HP is at the forefront of digital imaging and we know with HP we’ll be selling the best not just now but in the future too.”

The HP Retail Photo Solutions will be demonstrated at the Photokina show in Cologne on 23 – 28 September 2008, Hall 4.1.
