Release Issued by Kodak:
Packard Bell and Kodak Gallery announce major European partnership
23rd October, 2007 – Last year the number of images captured on digital still cameras exceeded 150 billion worldwide, while the number of images captured on mobile phones hit almost 100 billion (1). With such huge volumes of images captured, it is not surprising that there’s a massive appetite for sharing, printing and being creative with photography.
Quick, easy access to images is, therefore, paramount which is why Packard Bell, a market leader and the creators of the first consumer tailored PC, has signed an agreement with leading photo sharing and services site, Kodak Gallery. Packard Bell will integrate Kodak Gallery into all notebook and desktop computers sold in Western Europe (2).
The partnership will provide Packard Bell computer owners with one click access to Kodak Gallery's online photo service right from their Start Up screen. The service provides customers with a secure and easy way to view, store and share their photos with friends and family. They can get real Kodak prints and photo specialty products delivered to their door. The site also provides free editing and creative tools.
“We estimate that 315 million images are taken everyday and stored on computers.
The digital media explosion has really improved the way people can communicate with photography and that’s something we’re working to make even simpler. Our partnership with Packard Bell will allow consumers to access their images quickly and easily from log-on – enabling them not only to share but to tell their personal stories with a variety of Kodak products," said Jonathan Wisler, Director, Kodak EasyShare Gallery, Europe, Africa & Middle East Region. “We are excited about this partnership because we share Packard Bell’s core values of making the digital lifestyle easy for consumers.”
The service will further be promoted on Packard Bell’s websites and other channels.
