JVC Mobile Mini Note PCs: MP-XP7230 & MP-XP5230

Wednesday 23rd April 2003: JVC has unveiled its second generation Mini Note PCs. The new models MP-XP7230 & MP-XP5230 will be A5 size, feature improved specifications, connectivity, wireless LAN*, and more accessories as part of the standard package.

Last year the award winning Mini Note PCs entered the UK mobile PC market to great acclaim. This year the generation two models are complete with Pentium III Processors, 933MHz clock speed, Windows XP Pro (OS), USB 2.0 and come bundled with an external CD-ROM drive, Port Replicator* and a long life battery**. The MP-XP7230 even enables anytime, anywhere Internet and company access with a built-in Wireless LAN module.

The Mini Note PCs are the smallest PCs in the world to incorporate the Ultra Low Voltage Mobile Intel® Pentium® III Processor 933MHz-M as the CPU. The PCs make an ideal mobile computing solution, with the high-speed communication capabilities of USB2.0, i.LINK (IEEE 1394), and the pre-installed non-linear video editing software.

Connectivity and portability are the two main features of the Mini Note PC. With PC and SD Card slots, USB 2, external CD-ROM drive and Wireless LAN* the Mini Notes are equipped to face the mobile world. A5 size and weighing only 880g (MP-XP5230) and 905g (MP-XP7230) the models are ideal for the mobile user wanting a powerful system that can be taken anywhere.

Ultra Low Voltage Mobile Intel® Pentium® III Processor-M [933 MHz]
Both models are equipped with the ultra low voltage Mobile Intel® Pentium® III Processor 933 MHz -M to offer processing speed that’s tops in their class. These compact A5-size models are also currently the world’s smallest PCs to be equipped with this processor. This high-speed processing capability assures smooth results when connecting to the Internet, viewing DVD and editing DVC footage.

Built-in Wireless LAN Module (MP-XP7230GB)
Since the MP-XP7230GB is equipped with an internal wireless LAN module (IEEE802.11b compliant, Wi-Fi® Certified) people will be able to connect to the Internet not only in the home but anywhere there’s a “hot spot” access point. Also, by having a power antenna embedded on either side of the display panel, it is able to communicate over the air with high sensitivity. Wireless LAN allows you to easily and quickly make a connection and communicate with your company network. *

Overall Wi-Fi offers flexible working, convenience and instant access enabling a smarter more efficient way to do business.

Microsoft® Windows® XP Professional pre-installed
Microsoft® Windows® XP Professional was selected as the OS by virtue of its high degree of security functions. Users can thus enjoy wireless broadband without any hesitation.

Main Memory and Hard Drive
The MP-XP7230 incorporates 256MB of RAM and a 30GB hard drive.
The MP-XP5230 incorporates 128MB of RAM and a 20GB hard drive.

USB 2.0 Interface for high-speed data transfer
These Mini Note PC’s are equipped with two USB ports that support USB2.0, which has a 480 Mbps data transfer rate that is 40 times that of USB 1.1 (12 Mbps). The high-speed communication and data transfer capabilities of USB 2.0 interface enable users to enjoy and view high quality DVD video with smooth results.

Dual Power Battery
The dual power system delivers hours of continuous operation. In addition to the built-in battery these Mini Note PCs come with an easy to attach external battery for longer use and connectivity. The MP-XP7230 boasts 9 hours* of continuous operation (external long life battery) and the MP-XP5230 boasts 6 hours* (external standard battery). *Power save mode

Upgraded CC Converter for a higher level of sound quality
JVC’s “CC Converter” sound quality improvement technology has been upgraded. This advancement improves resonance and presence with all sound sources, and boosts reproduction capabilities of compressed audio data transmitted over the Internet. It’s a must for listening to downloaded MP3 and WMA files, as well as streaming audio from online sources.

High-definition Low Temperature Poly Silicon TFT liquid crystal display
The dazzling high-definition 8.9-inch wide SVGA display (1,024 x 600 dots, 16M colours, max.) offers superb picture quality, and clear, legible characters. The fast, high-performance CPU (Intel®) ensures smooth reproduction not only of high-definition digital stills, but also digital video.

The hub of a mobile AV network with multiple interfaces
The Mini Note Pc’s come fully equipped to handle everything from image downloading and editing to transmission. Comprehensive digital video camera interfaces include two USB2.0 ports, an SD Memory Card slot, i.LINK (IEEE 1394) connector, PC Card slot (Type II), Mic in, Head out, External CD-ROM drive, external Port Replicator*, LAN/Modem port as well as Wireless LAN Interface.*
