Introduction
Release Issued by Fujifilm:

Fujifilm FinePix F480 marries performance and affordability to become the ultimate beginner’s compact

Fujifilm today announces the launch of the 8 megapixel FinePix F480 compact digital camera. With the same metal body as its pricier F series range-mates and versatile 4x wide-angle (28-112mm) zoom, the FinePix F480 is perfect for those people looking for an easy-to-use all-rounder that offers a quality feature set at an affordable price.

Available in two colours, silver or black, and no bigger than a deck of playing cards (just 23mm thick), the FinePix F480 boasts good looks and compact proportions to match its superb performance. Simplicity of design means it’s incredibly easy to operate and a handy mode dial gives fast access to popular features such as the camera’s Anti-blur setting, which helps keep images sharp when shooting moving subjects. The camera’s large 2.7”, high resolution (230,000 pixels) LCD, with anti-glare coating, makes framing and reviewing images a pleasure, even in bright sunlight.

The FinePix F480’s 10 pre-programmed scene modes ensure even beginners in photography can get great shots in a range of shooting conditions. Its 4x optical zoom has been designed by Fujifilm’s specialist lens division, Fujinon, to ensure images delivered to the camera’s sensor are pin sharp. Furthermore, the lens’ 28-112mm wide-angle capability makes the FinePix F480 suited to a vast range of shooting situations – it really is a constant companion for snap-happy users who want superior photos without the price tag to match. ISO 1000 light sensitivity ensures natural-looking photos can be achieved, even in low light, and without need for flash.

Speaking of the camera’s versatility, Adrian Clarke, Director of Photo for Fujifilm said, “Wide-angle zoom is an increasingly popular feature among consumers of digital cameras as they progress from their first entry-level model. The FinePix F480’s lens, at 28mm, will ensure group shots can be taken, even at close quarters, without worrying about losing people on the extreme left or right of the frame. And it’s perfect for landscapes, enabling much more of what you see from your vantage point to be captured by the camera. We developed this new model with people moving up a level firmly in mind – it’s compact enough to fit into a pocket, yet versatile enough to be a trusted accessory for everything from family parties to walking holidays.”

The FinePix F480 is supplied with a rechargeable lithium-ion battery, rarely found in cameras at entry-level price point, making it even more economical as there is no need for investment in new batteries. Furthermore, the FinePix F480 also features dual compatibility for both xD-Picture Card™ and Secure Digital memory card formats so that consumers upgrading from a different brand camera will not necessarily need to purchase a new memory card.

To further enhance its ease of use, the FinePix F480 also features Fujifilm’s recently redesigned Graphical User Interface (GUI). When users switch shooting modes, scene positions, or control settings the camera displays a brief explanation of the feature on the LCD screen, taking much of the guesswork out of camera operation. The menu system itself is icon-based, making operation incredibly straightforward.
