Four Thirds-specific website launched

From the publisher that brought you DPNow, a new site dedicated to the needs of Olympus, Panasonic Lumix and Leica Digilux Four Thirds DSLR users

The Write Technology LTD, which publishes this site (DPNow) has today unveiled a brand new speciality online magazine and community site, called Four Thirds User, or 'FTU' for short. As its name suggests, the new site is specifically aimed at users of Olympus, Panasonic Lumix and Leica Four Thirds system DSLR cameras.

Four Thirds User launches

"The Four Thirds standard is technically interesting and full of innovations," explained Ian Burley, editor and founder of both and, adding: "Interest in Four Thirds has been ramping up since Olympus joined forces with Panasonic, Sigma and Leica, its fellow Four Thirds consortium members. I believe we have spotted a gap in the online provision of professionally-produced content and integrated online services for the growing family of users of Four Thirds gear.

"We're aiming to establish Four Thirds User as a central resource for anyone interested in the Four Thirds camera system. We've had a lot of very positive behind the scenes support and encouragement from the Four Thirds member companies."

News, reviews, tutorials, user photo galleries, forum discussions and competitions will form the heart of FTU. Until the end of August, forum and gallery registrants are being automatically entered in to a prize draw to win an Olympus E-510 DSLR.

The launch of FTU has no strategic impact on DPNow, which has been running since August 2001. DPNow continues as an independent and impartial general-purpose photography magazine site that caters for users of all camera brands.
