Notice for COOLPIX 3500, 4500, 5000 and 5400 customers

It has come to our attention that certain electronic image components in the COOLPIX 3500, COOLPIX 4500, COOLPIX 5000 and COOLPIX 5400 cameras may, on rare occasions, fail. Failure is most likely to occur when the camera is used in extreme conditions, such as high temperatures and/or high humidity . Should you experience problems with your camera, please visit an authorised Nikon Service Centre to have it inspected. If a faulty component is discovered, Nikon will replace it free of charge - even if your warranty has already expired.

We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this matter may have caused you.

Please read the symptoms described below in order to check whether your camera failure could be due to faulty electronic image components:
(1) Images exhibit a strong color tint.
- Images displayed in the monitor, both with pre-shooting framing and post-recording playback, have a pink or green tint.
(2) Images are totally black.
- Images displayed in the monitor, both with pre-shooting framing and post-recording playback, are completely black
(3) Images contain defects.
- Images displayed in the monitor, both with pre-shooting framing and post-recording playback, display one or more of the following defects.
- Images appear corrupted.
- Images contain vertical lines or bands.
- Images contain horizontal lines or bands.
- Images contain noise.
