Release Issued by Leaf:

Leaf Aptus 75 digital camera back delivers award-winning results

Three professional photographers combine talent and technology to win at international photo competitions

Waterloo, Belgium - October 31st, 2007 – Leaf, world-renowned leader in the domain of professional photography and developer of the world's fastest digital camera backs, announces that its Leaf Aptus 75 digital camera back provided the precision engineering and exceptional image quality to help three professional photographers capture awards in prestigious international competitions.

The Leaf Aptus 75 assisted Gustavo Marx to win two 1st place awards at the 2007 Pilsner Urquell International Photography Awards (IPA) competition, while Markus Klinko & Indrani Pal-Chaudhuri were awarded Best of Shot at the 2007 Lucie Awards, produced by The International Photography Awards (IPA).  Gay Campbell and Denis Montalbetti, of Montalbetti and Campbell, used the Leaf Aptus 75 to create a series of portraits that earned the award for 2007 Canon/AIPP Australian Professional Photographer of the Year, and also the Australian Illustrative Photographer of the Year, at the annual Canon Australian Professional Photography Awards (Canon APPA).

The recipients of the Pilsner Urquell International Photography Awards were announced during the Lucie Awards on October 15, 2007 in New York City. The IPA awards marks another major professional recognition, which Gustavo Marx, a talented Brazilian photographer, has earned over the past 15 years. Recently Marx was also awarded First Prize at PX3 "Prix de la Photographie Paris" within Portrait categories.  His winning photographs were taken with a Leaf Aptus 75 Digital Back.

Gustavo Marx explains how the Leaf Aptus 75 provides technical precision that offers him a full range of artistic expression. "One important attribute is the shooting speed – it gives me the confidence that the right moment will be "frozen" in time, and never lost," says Marx. "The imposing 33MP resolution enables me to crop shots to my taste, with details to spare. The large LCD also gives me a good sample to check against the overall vision for an image. Besides these technical qualities, the "look of real film" that Leaf digital camera backs produce means the most to me."

The Leaf Aptus family of digital camera back has the capability to deliver exceptional shooting speeds with unmatched image quality. The Leaf Aptus is the world’s first and only camera back with a built-in 6 x 7 cm touch screen LCD, enabling the user to work intuitively, accessing any point on the RAW image with one touch for quick evaluation. The large touch screen gives one-tap access to a range of essential functions and predefined settings that are typically needed before and during a photo shoot. The interface can be accessed in six languages, including Chinese and Japanese.

Art Briggs, Director of Sales and Marketing at Leaf, comments: “We are proud that the Leaf Aptus was the digital camera back of choice for the award-winning work of these renown photographers. Our Leaf Aptus family was developed using direct feedback from our customers. We responded with an innovative product that is exactly what professional photographers have requested – increased shooting speed and burst depths, without any compromise on the image quality.”
