3302: Canon and Pentax DSLR firmware updates announced in Japan

Improved memory card support and other enhancements delivered through firmware updates for Pentax and Canon DSLRs

Our intrepid correspondent in Japan, Yoshi, has spotted some firmware update news for Canon and Pentax DSLR users.

To summarise, the Canon releases, for its EOS-1D Mark 2 range of pro models with SD card support, enable SDHC support and fix a bug affecting in-camera formatting of 8GB, or greater, cards.

The Pentax upgrade is relevant to all *istD and K-series models that use SD cards and improves power-on start-up times.

You can see what Yoshi posted on the DPNow forum, including Japanese site links to access the firmware downloads.

There isn't yet any word from Samsung on their variations of the Pentax models, but we'll update this news story if we hear anything.
