3301: Snap.com Adds Image Search Capabilities to Stable of Visual Web Search Services

Release Issued by Snap.com:

Snap Image Search presents a gallery of images for each search term and makes scrolling through numerous large previews quick and simple

PASADENA, Calif.--Perfect Market Technologies, Inc., operator of Snap.com, today announced the immediate availability of Snap Image Search, a new service that leverages Snap.com’s unique approach to visualizing search results and allows users to locate images on the web and quickly navigate through the resulting preview images. Snap Image Search builds on Snap.com’s award-winning user experience, providing users with a consistent, unique and more efficient way to view and interact with search results for any kind of search conducted on Snap.com – web search or image search.

Features of Snap Image Search include:
Extremely Easy Navigation – Users are presented with a gallery of thumbnails in the left pane, with a larger version of the corresponding gallery image in the right pane. Users can simply use the scroll wheel on the mouse or the keyboard’s arrow keys to navigate through the gallery.
Adjustable Panes – For more thumbnails on the left pane or a bigger preview on the right pane, users can simply drag the divider between the two panes to the left or to the right.
Safe Search – To make sure results shown are safe for everyone to view, Snap Image Search has SafeSearch “ON” by default.

“We’re excited to continue to enhance the search experience on the web by integrating Snap Image Search into Snap.com,” said Tom McGovern, CEO of Perfect Market Technologies. “As we’ve always believed, visual previews are an integral part of the search experience and it is only natural that we extend our unique ability for users to visually navigate the web to the category of image search.”

Perfect Market also recently released Snap Preview Anywhere™ (SPA), the company’s free service that allows anyone visiting an enabled site to hover over a link to receive an immediate glimpse of hyperlinked pages, without having to navigate away from the current page. SPA allows users to decide if a site is worth visiting before actually clicking on the link and gives content publishers a quick, easy and free way to retain site visitors while offering a much richer user experience. The company yesterday announced that in the five weeks since the introduction of SPA, more than 15,000 publishers have signed up and more than 15 million previews have been served (for additional information, “Snap Preview Anywhere Adoption Skyrockets as Web Publishers and Bloggers Embrace Ability to Include Previews on Sites”).
