I'm always asked about noise performance in new cameras, so an examination of the different ISO settings on the DMC-L1 was obligatory. I'm sure the samples below will prove interesting, but without a known reference point, tightly controlled shooting conditions and precise technical measurement, they have a limited value. Nevertheless, it's pretty clear that noise is not too bad up to and including ISO 800, but there is a sharp drop in quality at 1600.
