Nikon announce Camera Control Pro
Image authentication software for new Nikon D2xs
21 months on from its launch just prior to Photokina 2004, Nikon has announced the successor to its D2x flagship pro-DSLR, called the D2xs. At the same time Nikon has introduced a software utility for managing the authenticity of D2xs camera images and an upgraded camera control software package.
Fundamental specifications remain unchanged from the original D2x, including its 12.4 megapixel APS (1.5x focal length equivalnce factor) CMOS sensor, 5 frames per second continuous shooting and 8 frames per second shooting in 6.8 megapixel cropped mode.
Key changes that you will find in the new D2xs include a better cropped mode view through the viewfinder, improved AF performance, a new TFT panel for wider (170 degrees) colour monitor screen viewing, and improved battery life.
You also get a more flexible colour space choices in-camera, plus the addition of a new monochrome shooting mode.
The list price of the D2xs body only is £3499.99, the same as its predecessor, although the street price has been considerably lower. You will be able to take a D2xs home from next month.
